About Us
Our Goal
Through using the Apache Language Curriculum, Native Apache students from the San Carlos community will be inspired with pride in their ancestral language and become motivated to use Apache to communicate in their daily lives; our language remains a living language that is a part of a thriving culture and a resilient community.
Our Curriculum
The Apache Language Curriculum, designed by the One People ~ One Nation Project, was developed within the community of San Carlos, Arizona. It is a challenging and dynamic curriculum designed to:
- Increase Native Apache language skills within the community
- Provide foundational knowledge that will enable students to communicate using the Apache Language
- Fosters an understanding and appreciation of the Apache Culture in the San Carlos Community.
Our Workshops
The purpose for the Apache Language Curriculum Development Workshops is to:
- Design and revise the Apache Language Curriculum for both immersion and non-immersion classes in Grade PreKinder through Grade 12
- Develop Apache Language Resources to be used in the classroom and community which will promote the use of the Apache Language
Our workshops are primarily held in the summer when both teachers and students are out of school. Our staff and Apache Cultural Experts also meet regularly throughout the school year as our project is an extensive undertaking.
