Apache Language Culture

Culture

Culture is the developed appreciation and understanding related to the ideas, customs, and social behavior of the Apache people.



*TSWBAT= The student will be able to

Culture Goals (CUL)

Music (MU)

Music is the ability to explore, understand, and express themselves through the songs, dances, and instruments found in the Apache Culture.

CUL.MU.01

TSWBAT identify the significance of Apache songs. 

CUL.MU.02

TSWBAT match instruments found in the Apache Culture to their sounds. 

CUL.MU.03

TSWBAT   explore a variety of musical instruments found in the Apache Culture.

 

A. The Drum

 C. The Flute

CUL.MU.04

TSWBAT use a variety of instruments and movements to explore sounds and create music. 

CUL.MU.05

TSWBAT express themselves through body movement while listening to children’s songs in Apache. 


Art (ART)

Art is the ability to visually express oneself through the Apache Culture.

CUL.ART.01

TSWBAT engage in socio-dramatic play using the Apache Culture. 

CUL.ART.02

TSWBAT seek a personal understanding of themselves and express their emotions through Apache art work. 

CUL.ART.03

TSWBAT use a variety of materials to create art work inspired by the Apache Culture.


Connections (CN)

Connection is the ability to connect to the Apache language and culture through their everyday life and experiences.

CUL.CN.01

TSWBAT draw connections between the Apache Culture and their own self-identity. 

CUL.CN.02

TSWBAT draw intergenerational connections with their elders from the community. 

CUL.CN.03

TSWBAT draw connections between themselves and their family members. 

CUL.CN.04

TSWBAT draw connections between themselves and other community members. 

CUL.CN.05

     

TSWBAT   draw connections to nature through identifying the purpose of different   plants.

 

A. Plants used for medicinal purposes

B. Plants that are edible

C. Plants that are toxic


History (HIS)

History is the ability to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the Apache Cultural History.

CUL.HIS.01

TSWBAT demonstrate simple geographical knowledge of the Apache History. 

CUL.HIS.02

TSWBAT relay facts about significant individuals who have impacted Apache History. 

CUL.HIS.03

TSWBAT understand the concept of time (past, present, future), as it relates to Apache History 

CUL.HIS.04

TSWBAT explore changes made to their surroundings as it relates to Apache History. 


Comparison (CP)

Comparison is the ability to identify with the Apache Culture.

CUL.CP.01

TSWBAT identify themselves as an Apache. 

CUL.CP.02

TSWBAT introduce themselves in Apache. 

CUL.CP.03

TSWBAT demonstrate understanding of the concept that for everything in nature there is an Apache word.
